Introductions - Hair By Erin Brown

I would like to start out by introducing myself.  My Name is Erin Brown and I have been a licensed hair stylist since 2000.  I live in Comstock Park, Michigan with my wonderful husband and two sweet little boys.  Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to make people look and feel their very best.  I became a stylist in 2000 at a Alpine Hair & Day Spa and developed my extensive educational background in customized hair coloring, hair cutting and formal hair design.  I started to really develop an extreme passion for formal hair design about 3 years into my career.  My experience there allowed me to build a great foundation of what was to come next in my career (which, might I mention, I never saw coming).

I knew there was something more I was to be doing, so I decided to venture out on my own and rent a chair at a small boutique like salon.  I don’t think I have ever been more scared in my life, (if you are a hair stylist, you know exactly how I felt).  I was so blessed to have encouraging clients who were supportive and reassured me I was doing the right thing.  Things went so well that within 1 year I became the owner of the salon.  I called a closewell respected friend of mine that I had worked with years ago at my previous salon, Angela Davis and said to her, “How would you feel about owning a salon with me?”  Within a few months,  A Davis Brown Salon was born.  I love working in the salon and am so grateful to have clientele who encouraged me and supported me through every step of my career.  At the salon, my specialty is custom hair coloring and I believe in continuous education and I strive to deliver my clients the latest trends.  But as a business owner, my speciality is making my clients feel great about themselves.

I will always remember the date February 22nd, 2009.  The day I met my dear friend, Julie Strating.  Julie is an amazing make up artist.  We did a photo shoot together that day.  With the combination of her make up artistry and my hair design, we knew we had professional chemistry and our model looked stunning.  Julie encouraged me to go forward in the next step of hair design.  I had started doing hair for more and more photo shoots and was able to build a great portfolio.  Although I loved being in the salon on a daily basis, my passion for the freelance styling grew very strong.  I started my on site servicing for brides, weddings, photo shoots, film, television, corporate projects and events, and within a very short time, my work was recognized and I became published in various magazines and on television.

So there you have it, and here we are.  I'm Erin Brown, and I'm a freelance hair designer.
